MFA Summer Housing & Meals

On-campus housing is available to MFA students. Housing is available in the JU ‘Village Apartments’ which are 4 bedroom apartments located on the north side of campus. Each apartment has a furnished living room, full kitchen, and 4 bedrooms for single occupancy. If you choose to live on-campus for the summer, you will live with other MFA students in an apartment that is convenient, safe, and quiet. The cost for housing is $170.00 per week in the full summer semester.
Meals
On weekdays, Lunch is provided to all MFA students for no charge. Meals are served in the JU cafeteria on campus. Additionally, all MFA students have access to a ‘break room’ located centrally to classes. The ‘break room’ is available all day and has coffee, breakfast foods, and snack foods provided.
White Oak
When traveling to White Oak Plantation during the summer study, the program will provide for all costs for MFA students including transportation, food, and lodging.

The following items are not
permitted in the residential facilities:
1.
Candles and Candle warmers: Candles that have not been lit may be
displayed for decoration purposes only. University officials may
confiscate candles that appear to have been lit. Candle warmers are also
prohibited in the residential facilities. 2. Incense, used or
unused.
3.
Flammable liquids, such as propane gasoline and oily rags, are not permitted in
residential facilities.
4.
Halogen lamps.
5.
Use of live Christmas and holiday decoration trees. No trees of any type
should ever be placed in corridors or stairwells.
Grills
Grills (charcoal, gas,
electric, etc.) are prohibited from being used or stored on university property
or in university buildings and will be confiscated. Students may use the
community grills that are located adjacent to residential facilities.
Pets
All pets, other than service
animals and harmless varieties of fish stored in tanks of 15 gallons or less,
are prohibited in and around residential facilities. This includes, but
is not limited to, all courtyards, breezeways, common spaces and parking lots
within the residential communities. Any student who is observed, or any
student whose guest is observed, with a dog, cat or other prohibited animal
– visiting or residing – on residential premises will incur an
immediate $100.00 fine. If the pet is not removed within 24 hours,
students are subject to increased fines and further disciplinary actions, such
as removal from the residential facilities without the refund of fees paid.
Exceptions will not be made for any temporary keeping of pets. Faculty
and full-time professional staff members who live on campus are allowed to keep
pets when approved by the Director of Residential Life.
Recycling
Recycling services are provided
in all residential facilities. Students are encouraged to recycle the
following items by placing them in a designated recycling bin:
1. Plastic
food, beverage, detergent bottles and jugs labeled with a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,
or 7
2. Aluminum
cans
3. Newspapers
and inserts
4. Magazines,
catalogs and telephone books
5. Brown
paper bags
6. Corrugated
cardboard (flattened)
Trash Disposal
Village Apartments residents
should dispose of all trash in one of three dumpster areas located adjacent to
the apartment complexes. Trash may not at any time, be placed in hallways,
breezeways, on doorsteps or in other public areas of the residential
facilities. Excessive trash in the residential facilities or failure to
properly dispose of trash will result in immediate fines being placed on
students’ accounts as well as possible disciplinary action for repeated
offenses.
